Structure
- The Mentoring Program is for current members of AFP
- Request for a mentor is made by a Request Form (see Request Form)
- There will be a $25 fee to cover administrative expenses
- Program is designed to provide guidance within our profession (not a skill-based training program)
- Both mentors and participants will be asked to complete an Evaluation Form after one year of the relationship
Definition of Mentor
A
mentor is an experienced development professional who will take a
personal interest in the career development of the participant,
providing advice and general support.
Role of the Mentor
- Coaching
- Problem Solving
- Career and goals guidance
- Identification of appropriate training for program participant
Contacts/Meetings
Formal
Brown
bag lunches 4 times per year which include discussions of
resume-writing, interviewing, maximizing board relationships and
managing the CEO
Informal
- Sit together at AFP luncheon meetings
- Mutually agreed upon one-on-one meetings
